So the weather might’ve taken a turn for the worst as we regress into a struggling spring, but even volcanic ash clouds couldn’t stop us from ranging over the globe to find breaking fashion news as it happens. Today marks the 15th Australian Fashion Week, and where we’ve been sure to keep a warmer plan-B wardrobe in case of sun-failure, our antipodean counterparts have been casting off everything possible to emerge beach-ready at the feet of women’s clothing and fashion. The back-story to this celebration of the best Aussie catwalk collections reads like a topsy-turvy version of complaints and outcries on our side of the world during the European Fashion Weeks, with the burgeoning of what is set to be the world’s first aboriginal (really?) face of Vogue, Samantha Harris (18), who took to the runway today in Sydney before a dazzled crowd. Compare this with French V’s still quite unbelievable treatment of racial identity not too long ago, and things seem a little inside out. Further furore came in the form of pleas from plus size friendly clothing agencies accusing the designers and stylists of skinny elitism in their selection of models, the complaint being that this marked a backwards step for Australia’s bid for establishing itself as the leading fashion base outside of Europe. But what of reports from the collections? There are many instances that can be provided. Fighting through the Avatar-themed model stuff was a trend for bikinis worn with platform boots in electric neon colours, at least showing that you don’t need to enter the body of a blue alien to bring some long, lithe legs into your poolside look. Bathing caps were also an ironic favourite that seemed to work better than had been intended, coming in a range of just as bright colours, and giving a feminine cool to contrast with all that bare skin. Fitting with the tribalism of the Avatar theme was a nod towards this season’s trend for colour prints in their beach sun-shade form, with sarongs and kaftan-like wonders being spun from the most vibrant of patterns imaginable. Slightly more covered-up but a little more fun was the penchant for floral and pastel blouses and fitted shirts worn over bikini bottoms with flat shoes, as well as a revealing take on the nautical look with some incredibly scant denim shorts. Welcome to Summer 2009 ladies! Finally my favorite season is here and in full effect. No more June Gloom! Soon it will be July and it’s all sunshine from there. I figured I would start out the season by going over some plus size fashion “must have” trends for your summer wardrobe.These “must have” fashion trends are for every occasion, not just your summer vacation. They are for your everyday activities including work, rest, and play.
The Maxi: Plus size Maxi Dresses are everywhere this season and are a huge fashion trend for summer 2009. If you still think are thinking that you cannot wear a Maxi Dress, think again. With all of the different styles and pattern variations you are sure to find a Plus Size Maxi Dress that is right for your figure. Maxi dresses are the plus size woman’s best friend and work to perfectly conceal some our minor figure flaws in the most figure-flattering way. Flirty, romantic, and stylish, these dresses can be worn for every occasion this summer, from shopping with the girls to a romantic summer night out on the town. Ruffles: Feminine and flirty ruffles are a definite “must have” fashion trend this season. Look for soft, romantic style blouses and dresses with accents of single to layered ruffles. As you know, fashion is easily changeable and each season we see tens of new watch collections. This season designers really tried their best to create models that are catchy and far from boring. First, the hot color for 2009 is rose gold. There are a number of watch companies released their timepieces in rose gold, even the total amount greatly exceed the last year. On the one hand, rose gold features solid character, even it is a nice color that features elegant appearance; on the other hand, it costs much less than Platinum. During the period of economic downturn, it is really a smart choice for quality and value. That is why rose gold watches are represented so widely in designers’ collections this season. The second trend of this season is the emphasis of technology which is the most important in watch manufacture. Some brands even take the breakthrough in technology as the great milestone for development. The trend embodies in the concern of movement and high-tech material. Wrist watches with multifunction won people’s great admiration, while the appliance of technology greatly promote the veracity and stability.
The third top trend of this season is jewelry watches. They are created mostly to attract people’s attention by its beauty and luxury. They often hold a strong relationship with art. Watches with crystal accented case, bracelet or dial looks very charming. You can hardly find another watch so pretty and sophisticated as the masterpiece.
The last, not all the innovations are focused on the colour palette. Great attention is given to the style of the watch. Nowadays kinds of watches are recreated and appear as the style of vintage version. Since the effection of the economic recession, few customers would approve any bold creation of watches. While only the most classic items can guarantee the timeless value for collecting. These classic wrist watches always come with simple dial and plain color tone.
